Maylily Merino Wool "Merinolove" blanket - Beige

Wool is not normally a cause of allergies. Merino wool in particular is hypoallergenic and gentle on the very sensitive skin of children.

In addition, Merino wool bed clothes help children to sleep better.

Sleep is especially important during the first three years of life, so it is vital that every effort is made to help babies get the best sleep they possibly can.

Merino wool has been shown to be perfect for this purpose.

Babies who sleep in Merino wool show lower rates of activity and have deeper, more restful sleep.

Studies showed that these babies settled more quickly, cried less and slept longer. Children who slept on bedding made from synthetic fibres, on the other hand, were found to have more problems settling and staying asleep.

Yes, Merino wool is generally considered safe for babies thanks to its natural softness, breathability, and ability to regulate body temperature.

As a hypoallergenic natural fibre, merino wool is less likely to cause irritation or allergies than synthetic materials - making it a gentle and safe option for delicate baby skin.

If you're worried about your little one overheating, this wonder fabric can help. Merino wool can absorb up to 30% of its dry weight before becoming damp, so dressing your baby in pure Merino clothing and bedding can keep them from becoming clammy and uncomfortable.

Benefits of Merino wool:

The natural fibre of Merino wool strikes the perfect balance between practicality, durability, and sustainability, making it a go-to choice for fashion designers, interior stylists, apparel brands, and consumers.

Merino wool is a great all-rounder for many reasons:

• It can help to regulate body temperature by wicking away sweat in summer and holding warmth between its fibres in winter

• It fights off sweaty and musty smells by absorbing odour-causing bacteria

• It is hypoallergenic and doesn't itch, making it a good choice for babies with sensitive skin

• It has antistatic properties, is crease-resistant and holds its shape

• It is lightweight and can last for a for many years when cared for properly

Manufacturers use Merino wool to make a variety of everyday products, ranging from rugs and mats to socks and hats, and it has become increasingly popular for baby clothing and bedding.

What is Merino Wool?

Merino wool is a type of wool grown from Merino sheep, who you might recognise for their soft, dense coats and curious faces. Australia produces over half of the world's merino wool, which is known for being so fine that it feels like cashmere.

If you've ever slipped on a Merino wool jumper and snuggled under a Merino blanket, you'll understand how nothing else looks, feels and wears quite like it.
